Personality:

Confident is a good word to describe Rodolphus Lestrange. Charming is another one. He has impeccable manners and knows proper ettiquette being one of the true purebloods in the Wizarding communty. If you are of pureblood decent you will find Rodolphus is actually quite personable, but those who are of a 'common' or Halfblood will find him to be an elitist of the highest caliber; not seen as cocky or pretentious as Lucius Malfoy, but he just will mainly refuse to speak unless absolutely necessary. He does not feel the need to throw out barbs and demean others to feel good about himself, he is well aware of his superiority and chooses to spare you from your self esteem being lowered more than it already is.

Rodolphus is a complex man. One of the first Death Eaters, Rodolphus does not hate Muggles; he detests Muggle-born wizards and the fact that they are tainting the pureblood lines. He is a staunch believer in keeping pureblood lines just that...PURE. In general, Rodolphus has nothing against muggles, he just believes they should not be a part of the wizarding world (though he does very much like their board games). His association with Voldemort is to keep his race pure not out of a hatred of anything different than himself. It's a misconception that he has allowed to be said about him because in reality he really doesn't care what people think of him; it only matters what he and his loved ones think of him.

A man of style, it comes naturally to him to look good in almost anything he wears. Since being in Azkaban he has become quite fanatical about being clean, and he washes his hands more often than most; often washing his hands after touching someone or something he deems as 'unclean'.

Being brought up in a loving home, Rodolphus learned early on the joy of family and wants desperately to have one of his own. He enjoys children finding them a delight and is looking forward to his own. As time passes he is worried that his time to have them might become a non-issue. Not having grown up in a brutal home as it seems many of the old pureblood children have, he becomes quite incensed when he sees any kind of cruelty dealt to children; muggle or wizarding. This has even been an issue between him and the Dark Lord, as he has in the past let go of children of families that he has been ordered to butcher; it is the reason that the Dark Lord only sends him executions that do not involve children. Though, if Voldemort ultimately directs him to kill he will. Rodolphus is a soldier, but in the instance of Harry Potter, he understands that the death is a means to an end and will carry out his orders even if it does leave a bad taste in his mouth and a darker mark than the one on his arm on his heart.

Family plays a large part in his life, and he considers the few friends that he has to be a part of his family. He is quite close to his younger brother, Rabastan. When not incarcerated he is often in the company of him enjoying the time they spend with each other. He has been told that Rabastan has an inferiority complex when it comes to him, and he always responds in jest with, "Yes, well wouldn't you if you were my brother?" But always pushes the thought away as soon as it's said as he never sees his brother that way, instead seeing him as a very competent and having proved himself time and again. He views his brother as his equal and always has, though when younger he viewed him as a bit of a pest who he had to take with him everywhere he went. He is very forgiving of his brother's faults as he is his wife, Bellatrix.

He loves his wife, and has ever since they were first betrothed; though their views on Muggles differ slightly. The fact that she insists on the bloodlines staying pure is what binds them together. He is quite loyal and has never waivered in their relationship, which is fiery and passionate. He has a tremendous amount of pride that his wife is very independent, as it reminds him of his mother whom had engrained a very large respect for women early in his youth. Rodolphus is fully aware of his wife's sexual appetite, and this does not bother him as long as she keeps those appetites to women. Being confidant within himself he is not the type that becomes cross when people refer to him as "Bellatrix's husband,' instead he feels a tremendous amount of pride and amusement. He is fully aware that Bellatrix has been having an affair with Voldemort for years, and only because it's the Dark Lord has he allowed it; but he allows no other men and he has always been quite vocal and insistant on that point. He demands little of Bellatrix save for her love and loyalty, and now that he has learned of her affair with Lucius Malfoy he is having serious doubts about his current marital status.
